Description

Mid 19th century with later alterations and additions. Pair of single storey, rectangular-plan 3-bay cottages (number 1 with later 2-bay extension to outer left). Droved cream sandstone ashlar with polished ashlar margins (painted at number 1 with polished margins to addition). Base course; eaves course.

SW (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 8-bay. No 1: replacement part-glazed timber panelled door in bay to original centre. Window in each bay flanking. Window in each bay to later addition to outer left. No 5: window in each bay (door bay to centre now as window).

NE (REAR) ELEVATION: irregularly fenestrated lean-to brick addition to right (No1); modern conservatory addition to outer left (No 5).

SE (SIDE) ELEVATION: window, set to left in gabled wall; gablehead stack above. Conservatory addition, slightly recessed to outer right.

Variety of glazing patterns, including 18-pane timber sash and case windows to No 1; uPVC window to No 5; uPVC window to rear additions. Grey/purple slate roof; slate to 2-bay addition to number 1; felt covering to brick addition to rear; ashlar coped gablehead and ridge stacks; ashlar skews; uPVC rainwater goods.

GATEPIERS AND RAILINGS: circular-plan gatepiers with ball caps to No 5; replacement wrought-iron railings.
