Description

Alexander Cullen, Hamilton, Architect. Mr Cattenach,
Kingussie, local architect, 1909.
Asymmetrical church with E facing 5-bay main front, gabled
left, projecting right fronting small wallhead bellcote.
Sneck coursed rubble, tooled ashlar dressings.
Square headed entrance sheltered by timber gabled porch
supported by low coped wall, slate roof and pegged detailing
to bargeboards. 3 pairs small square headed windows light
centre bays, and similar triple lancets under pronounced
relieving arch in outer left gable. Similar lancets in N
gable; S gable lit by lunette above projecting minister's
porch. Square leaded pane glazing with some coloured Art
Nouveau detailing. Slate roof with squat ridge ventilator.
Interior: asymmetrical interior orientated S with low E aisle
supported by facetted wooden columns. Pine plank dado; pine
pews; later oak communion table and pulpit.
Later partitioning at rear to form small chapel incorporating
entrance lobby; chapel walls hung with 19th century memorial
tablets from old Duthill church.

Statement of Interest

Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Replaces old Duthill

parish church. Chapel provides suitable place of worship

for small numbers, particularly in winter.
