Description

Earlier-mid 19th century, small single storey, W facing 3-bay
cottage. Probably cruck-framed; drystone rubble. Centre
entrance with roughly dressed door jambs; small flanking
dressed door jambs; small flanking windows; further
diminutive centre light to rear. Pegged turf N gablet; straw
thatched roof; no stacks, but clay drainpipes project at each
rounded apex to serve as flues.
Interior; said to be timber lined.

Statement of Interest

Sole surviving inhabited thatched cottage in Lonbain, a

linear settlement with only one other lived in cottage.

Remainder of buildings in ruinous condition (1981).
