Statement of Interest

The Shaw Monument is an unusual tower built by the Laird of Shaw. According to Cuthbertson, the Laird was a keen falconer. When he became to old to actively participate in the sport he built the Shaw Monument so that from the top he had a perfect view of the birds making their kill. There is a long spiral staircase inside leading to the top of the tower.
