Description

Robert Thomson, Architect. Circa 1880-90. In the manner of
Alexander Thomson. Single storey asymmetrical Egypto-Greek
villa. Stugged red sandstone with polished dressings. Door
and 2 windows at right, deeply recessed behind pilastrade.
Advanced gabled bay to left has 4 lights, similarly recessed
over plinth with moulded cill band and lintel. Circular
ventilator in gable. Deeply projecting eaves. Stack on south
west wall with chimney pot decorated with Greek motifs.
Slate roof. Small modern extension recessed at left.
Interior: chimney pieces removed, but decorative plasterwork
in cornices. Imposing pilastered and pedimented sideboard
recess, in front room to south, with idiosyncratic anthemion
and palmette capitals, and the same detail repeated in the
frieze.
