Description

Later 18th century. 3-storey, symmetrical rectangular
plan tenement of 6 flats with altered openings. Red
sandstone masonry, squared to E and S, rubble to N and
W with ashlar openings. Raised cills to E, N and S.
E ELEVATION: former main elevation. 3-bay with former
door at centre blocked to window and additional window
flanking to left.
W ELEVATION: irregular window arrangement.
S ELEVATION: distinctive colour change in masonry above
1st floor. Single window bay to right, on N elevation to
left.
12-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows.
Raised plain skews and grey slates. Coped gablehead
stacks.
INTERIOR: newel stone staircase. Original division into
flats continues.

Statement of Interest

Built as tenement for estate workers of Archerfield

estate. Makes a dominant impression on the village green by

its 3-storey massiveness.
