Description

Sir Robert Lorimer, 1904. 2-storey cruciform plan, Arts
and Crafts lodge with rounded stair and entrance tower
to N. Mannered sandstone rubble with droved ashlar
dressings. Chamfered arrises.
N ELEVATION: tower at centre swept into main roof
transomed stair window under eaves of bell-cast roof;
4-centre arch to doorway in ashlar panel at left side by
re-entrant angle. Small 4-centred light at right side.
Single light to right of N wing.
S ELEVATION: bell-cast gable to S wing with outbuildings
extending S. Lower ridge and eaves to bell-cast roof of
S wing.
E ELEVATION: advanced gable to N wing with swept eaves
and bipartite lights to right. Chamfered NE angle with
single light, corbelled to square above.
W ELEVATION: advanced gabled bay detailed as E
elevation, to left.
Lead-pane glazing to casement windows. Blind slits in
gableheads with carved details to E and W. Slate roofs.
Moulded coping to square stack by ridge intersection.
GATEPIERS: rectangular gatepiers in squared rubble with
ashlar dressings and moulded coping.
GATES: waved timber gates.
