Description

Circa 1900. Single storey, U-plan bungalow. Pink
squared and snecked rubble.
N (COURT) ELEVATION: low asymmetrical design with
projections in re-entrant angles linked by canopy and one
forming porch; piended dormer heads to windows of side
elevations.
S ELEVATION: 5-bay 2 advanced rounded angle bays to
centre and outer right with steeply pitched piend roof
linking and forming loggia below. French windows to
advanced bays and loggia. 2 bays to left with
piend-roofed rectangular projection.
Long E elevation with irregular openings. Bowed bay to
outer right with piend roof and French window.
Small-pane glazing to sash and case windows. 8-pane to
French windows, pantiled roof with red tile piended
dormers and eaves easing course. Rubble stacks.
INTERIOR: mid 18th century detailing; plasterwork ceilings.
Oak panelled doors; brass fittings. Coombed ceiling.
Marble chimneypieces.

Statement of Interest

Architects almost certainly Sydney Mitchell and Wilson.

Commissioned by a blind man, designed for his use. Stable

and cottage to N in similar style and materials. Loggia at

S fitted with modern glazing.
