Description

Dated 1817. Square panelled plinth on stepped base supporting
obelisk encircled by band course. All polished ashlar.
Pair marble angels inserted in NW side of obelisk and marble
plaque below in plinth, with inscription. Obelisk finial
missing.
Enclosed by low coped ashlar retaining wall with cast-iron
spearhead railings.

Statement of Interest

Memorial to Jane, wife of Thomas Fraser of Balnain. Only

child of Simon Fraser of Foyers and Elizabeth Grant, his

wife. Died 7 July, 1817 aged 22. Situated in wooded site just

above shore of Loch Ness, not far from former Foyers House.
