Probably early 18th century and possibly incorporating
earlier work. 2-storey, W facing 5-bay house; regular 4
window fenestration with off centre door in penultimate
bay from S. Small windows with chamfered margins (now harled
over). Irregular rear fenestration and off-centre entrance
masked by modern lean-to porch; 4-pane glazing. End and
ridge stacks; slate roof.
In 1790 the 'Tower of Deskford' was reported that it
appeared 'to have been a pretty spacious sort of building'
and to have been constructed by the Sinclair family who preceded
the Ogilvie's as Lords of Deskford. It is illustrated
in Charles Cordiner's REMARKABLE RUINS AND ROMANTIC
PROSPECTS (1788). Some fragments of the vaulted ground
floor of this tower survive in the garden of the Muckle
Hoose; the house itself may possibly have been portion of
later addition to this tower.
