Circa 1900. 4 gatepiers and retaining walls. Square corniced
rusticated ashlar piers; caps and urns to centre pair only.
Centre carriage entrance with wide flanking pedestrian
entrances.
Re-used earlier 20th century wrought-iron gates, the
pedestrian gates being set within decorative wrought-iron
screen. Coped rubble retaining walls.
North Drive opended up during 18th century alterations of
Gordonstoun House. Ornamental gates from Charters House,
Hancocks Mount, Sunningdale, Surrey, originally made for the
owner, the late Montague Burton. Gates gifted to Gordonstoun
1962. Plaque on gate records that the gates were 'Erected by
Ian Tennant and Edward Lightowler after 20 years happy
association with the development of Gordonstoun School' circa
1975. (Sir Ian Tennant, Lord Lieutenant Of Moray; Edward
Lightowler, late Master and Master of Works, Gordonstoun).
2 pairs decorative cast-iron gates now at Altgie, Rafford
Parish, removed from Gordonstoun.
