Description

Later 18th century. 2-storey and dormerless attic, 3-bay
house with centre door and later rear wing. Harled rubble
with contrasting painted margins. Windows ground and 1st
floor in E gable; attic windows to both gables; later round-
headed window inserted ground floor, W gable. Some 12-pane
glazing survives; end stacks; slate roof.
Fire insurance mark over front door.
INTERIOR: central circular stair within semi-circular stair-
well.

Statement of Interest

John King (1606-1670) of Plewlands and his son William (1637-

1715) were factors to Gordonstoun; William became trading

partner with Sir Ludovic Gordon, propsered and purchased

land in Elgin including Newmill, and land that became (circa

1830) King Street, Elgin.

Plewlands appears on Kinnaird's map of Loch Spynie 1783.
