Description

Original house and granary shortly after 1756, house much
altered, 2-storey coursed rubble incorporated at right angles
in 2-storey 3-window granite ashlar mansion of c 1850. Large
neo-Greek porch of excellent design added 1921. Greenhouse
1913. Simple distinctive early Victorian interior work. Court
of offices, interesting granary building with suspended
floor.

Statement of Interest

In 1756 Ardo was sold to Dingwall of Rannieston who built the

house and granary (probably not the present one).

In 1838 Peter Harvey acquired the property and built the

house before he died in 1866. The policies were laid out by

J.F. Beattie who may have designed the house. The porch

detail suggests the hand of Dr. Kelly.
