Description

Early-mid 18th century. 2-storey and attic, wide 3-bay house.

Modern harl, contrasting painted reveals and dressings.

Centre entrance within moulded and lugged doorpiece. Regular fenestration; ground and 1st floor window in W gable; 2

unfortunate modern 2-light swept dormers; modern 12-pane

glazing. End stacks with deep roll-moulded copes; slate

roof with pottery ridge.

Later single storey and loft addition projects at SE angle,

also harled; forestair to loft fronts S gable.

INTERIOR: centre rectangular stairwell with wide staircase

with simple wooden balustrade and polished handrail. Former

1st floor parlour (W) with moulded ceiling cornice, raised

and fielded panelled door and window shutters; circa 1900

chimneypiece. Raised and fielded panelled window shutters

and doors elsewhere in house including paired doors

closing mural cupboard in ground floor passage. Circa 1900

chimneypiece in present ground floor sitting room.

Statement of Interest

Baldavie referred to as a 'small estate' in 1842. Mid-later

19th century range of farm buildings at E not included

in listing.
