Description

Castle. Mansion with round tower, and gateways. Castellated. Incorporates earlier house. R. and R. Dickson, architects, 1840. 2 and 3-storeyed. Rubble and ashlar. Slate roofs.

Statement of Interest

Estate was formerly called Castlehill. It passed 1830 to Mrs Margaret Erskine who restored old name of Dunimarle and built the present house which has been a museum since her death in 1872.

Up-graded Category B to A, 9 June, 1995.
