Description

Built 1864. Railway viaduct, now disused. 9 unusually
sharply-skewed depressed arches carrying single track over
Liddel Water. Bull-nosed red ashlar with narrow cutwaters,
bands at imposts, channelled voussoirs, channelling continued
diagonally along soffits. Brick parapets with concrete coping
slabs and iron handrails not original.

Statement of Interest

Built by the North British Railway.

Riddings Junction-Langholm line opened 18.4.1864 and closed

18.9.1967.
