Description

Old mill site, buildings probably of 18th-century origin.
Painted rubble range, L-plan built into steep fall of land;
2-storey grain mill to S with water wheel to E, to N kiln
building and grain store, with bothy to extreme N. Good
graded slate roof. Internally most mill machinery survives, 3
pairs of stones. Cast-iron water wheel with timber axle,
spokes and boards. Makers plate J&B Maxwell, Dumfries dated,
1870.
