Description

18th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house to left; with attached modern (1990's) 2-storey, 2-bay T-plan wing to right. Single storey 2-bay outhouse to far right. Harled; painted stone surrounds to openings. Dressed eaves course and vertical margins to S arrises to earlier house.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: central replacement door; flanking windows; 3 1st floor windows centre above. Regularly placed windows to right wing; 2 ground and 2 1st floor windows. 2 windows to outhouse.

W ELEVATION: single ground and 1st floor windows to right; attached to 4 Ramsay Lane to left.

N ELEVATION: partially seen, 2000. Double glazed patio doors to rear wing; bipartite 1st floor window above. Garage doors to outhouse.

E ELEVATION: plain gable to outhouse. Small 1st floor windows to right and left in house gable. Door with window to left and ground floor window to right in rear wing.

INTERIOR: not seen, 2000.

Predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows with horns to earlier house; much replacement fenestration elsewhere. Modern rooflight to rear wing. Raised skews to earlier house; skewputts; pitched slate roof; corniced gable apex stacks. Lower roofline to later house; pitched, replacement slate; square chimney projects from right gable wall. Steeply pitched roof to outhouse; red clay pantiles; slated lower courses; raised skews to right; skewputt; corniced stone gable apex chimney to right.

Statement of Interest

The 1st Edition map shows a row of buildings along this lane; the recent T-plan extension replaces an earlier building. The outhouse may have been a separate cottage and has retained its original roof pitch.
