Walter Newall, architect, circa 1829. Courtyard steading, 3
ranges around courtyard, with detached farmhouse closing
courtyard at south. All rubble-built with ashlar dressings;
whitewashed; roofs mostly covered with graded slates.
Steading: detached tall east range with 3-bay stable at
north, cartshed (blocked openings), barn at south with tall
doorway and slit ventilators, low single bay wing to
courtyard; boarded and glazed loft openings; roof-lights;
axial ventilators (3 are large and modern). Large modern shed
adjoins at east. Other ranges single storey, with louvered
and glazed roof ventilators, south end of west range now a
garage, with corrugated roof.
Farmhouse: originally a single storey 3-bay cottage with
central door and wings to court; altered and enlarged by
Charles Howitt, circa 1867, with full-height gabled wing
built against eastmost bay of south elevation, central porch
added and wall-head dormer over remaining bay; wings also
altered, alterations with bull-faced dressings, saw-toothed
skews; corniced end and ridge stacks.
