1815 with later additions and alterations. Single storey, single bay former classical stable with hayloft, adjoining Allanton Inn to N. Sandstone rubble with stugged ashlar dressings; whinstone S elevation; whinstone and sandstone rubble with stugged ashlar dressings.
W ELEVATION: advanced engaged piers breaking eaves in coped wallhead with blinded round arch and with further tall coped parapet flanked by consoles; modern garage door.
S ELEVATION: window to outer right.
N ELEVATION: boarded door.
Piended slate roof with alternating bands of purple and green slates. Gabled dormer to S. Half-piended hayloft dormer to N.
INTERIOR: setts to floor; timber stair to loft.
The building was initially built as a stable and hayloft for the inn. In subsequent years it has been used as a fire station and is now used as a garage-store. There was formerly a cast-iron dolphin-spouted waterpump to left of entrance, W elevation which was stolen in recent years. According to Strang, there is a dated rainwater head (not seen, 1996).
