Statement of Interest

Auchmithie village stands on an elevated site over- looking the North Sea. It is irregularly planned and consists of simple uniformly-designed fisher cottages, generally dating from the 18th century, some rebuilt in the 1860's. Regrettably, most have been altered in recent years (1992).

No longer a fishing village Auchmithie is also of historical interest as the "Musselcrag" of Scotts' Antiquary.
