Description

Circa 1920. War memorial in form of mercat cross. Dressed ashlar sandstone. Stepped octagonal plinth; shaft capped by heraldic seated lion with shield (Saltire flanked by thistles). Bronze plaque to S, naming village War Dead, 1914-19, with smaller plaque below for 1939-45 War.

Orientated to the south, the war memorial is prominently placed at the T-junction, central to the village, as befitting its mercat cross appearance.
