Cruikshank of Glasgow, sculptor. Erected 1880 (dated). Obelisk,
on simple battered and inscribed base. Polished grey granite.

Statement of Interest

Inscribed "On 28th September 1853 the ship Annie Jane with

emigrants from Liverpool to Quebec was totally wrecked in

this bay and three fourths of the crew and passengers ...

about 350 ..... were drowned and ....... interred here".
