Possibly late 18th century. Pair of single storey, 2-bay terraced cottages retaining thatched roof beneath corrugated iron sheeting; occupied as one dwelling. Droved ashlar with ashlar margins, base course and eaves course, Doors at centre renewed, windows to outer bays with 4-pane glazing pattern. Steep ashlar coped skews, one scroll skewputt retained to left. Corniced ashlar stacks, presumably renewed, with decorative cans.

Statement of Interest

Listed as one of the few remaining thatched buildings in Clydesdale; the original thatch survives under the corrugated metal sheeting. This is possibly a reed or straw thatch laid and stitched over turf divots. Other surviving examples may be found at Douglashall and Birkfield, Carluke Parish, and at Dunsyre Road, Newbigging, Biggar Parish, all are listed separately.
