Description

Later 19th century, 2-storey and attic symmetrically fronted
SE facing, 5-bay hotel. Coursed red rubble with contrasting
tooled ashlar sandstone dressings. Wide, slightly advanced
centre and outer bays, each defined by long/short angle
margins; Centre entrance with flanking round-headed narrow
windows, under continuous bracketted cornice with centre
segmental pediment details. Tripartites in ground and 1st
floors of outer bays; all windows with rounded angles to
lintels and linked by lintel and band courses; segmental
headed dormers under moulded shaped copes with carved stone
apex finials 2 centre dormers linked at wallhead; 2- and 4-
pane glazing. Deep ashlar eaves band; eaves cornice; Paired
centre cornice stacks; piended platform roof.
Symmetrical 3-bay NE return gable with dormers flanking
centre wallhead stack. Similar SW return elevation altered
to accommodat unfortunate modern projecting 3 storey
stairwell.

Appears on 1st ed. OS 1872 as Beauly Hotel.

Intrusive later stairwell at SW.
