House of various builds; circa 1750 with S frontage added
1837-8, William Robertson, Elgin, architect. Further
alterations and additions. 1901, including service wing at
at E gable. Polished ashlar frontage; harled flanks and
rear with polished ashlar margins and dressings; similar
materials to 1901 additions. Symmetrical S front of 2
storeys over raised basment with shallow advanced centre bay;
centre entrance fronted by Ionic tetrastyle portico;
doorway flanked by narrow side lights; long ground floor
windows; band course between ground and 1st floor; panelled
angle pilasters; deep eaves band and moulded cornice
returning onto gables; centre batter low square stacks
linked by continuous cornice and supported by consoles.
Rear block; long and short detailing to angles and some
windows; ashlar raised basement; canted bay window (probably
1901), rises full height at centre rear projecting bay with
French windows opening to terrace. Mainly lying-pane glazing,
margined in rear canted bay; corniced stacks; piended slate
roofs. Interior; simple corniced ceilings; mid-19th century chimneypieces; earlier 20th century main staircase with
turned wooden balusters.
Walled Garden; early 19th century, large walled garden with
tooled ashlar cope.
Formerly Moniack or Easter Moniack and home of Fraser's of
Reelig. Early house built by James Fraser, 12th of Reelig and
S front by James Baillie Fraser, 15th of Reelig.
