Dated 1853. Rambling 2-storey house, later 18th century
and early 19th century 2-storey, 3-bay blocks facing
east/west with large L-plan Scottish Baronial additions by
David Bryce, 1853 recasting house to south. Earliest portion
of harled rubble, remainder of rubble with tooled ashlar
dressings. South facing frontage has drum tower in re-entrant
with doorway and dated plaque above; tower rises 3
storeys with conical bellcast slated roof with diminutive
gabletted dormers and terminating with decorative wrought-
and cast-iron weathervane. Flanking polygonal bay windows
rise full height with facetted slate roofs and cast-iron
finials; corbelled angle bartizan at SE angle. Finialled
gabletted dormers break wallhead; multi-pane glazing;
corniced end and ridge stacks; slate roofs.
2 large lean-to conservatories at west 1 abutting west gable.
Various additional rear service wings.
