Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Planning Authority

This simple roofless rubble stone structure is of uncertain date but is thought to have pre-Reformation origins. It is situated a short distance to the South East of Auchlyne House itself (see separate listing). It is rectangular and has a central door in the North elevation flanked by square recesses and a pair of small window openings to the South elevation. There are recesses in the internal walls. Although little is known about this building, it is likely that it was connected with the Auchlyne Estate which has ancient origins. It is an important part of the parish's built heritage.

Statement of Interest

Part of a B-group with Auchlyne House Walled Garden, Auchlyne House, Auchlyne Farm Granary.

Although known as a Chapel, it appears on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey map as a 'Burial Ground'; this concurs with Gillies who notes that in the 17th and 18th centuries it was used as a burial place by the Campbells of Auchlyne. It is said by Gillies to have at one time contained an unknown relic of St Fillan termed a 'fergy'.
