Description

Quadrangular churchyard containing burial place of
Thomas Carlyle and of Archibald Arnott, physician to
Napoleon Bonaparte; also site of St Fechan's Church;
enclosed mostly by ashlar-coped and rubble-built walls, gate
at N end of W wall, and front wall of otherwise demolished
Harthop cottage. Mostly 17th-19th century headstones, some
with artisan sculpture; iron-railed Carlyle enclosure; other
enclosures with good cast-iron railings.
