Description

Dated 1817. Symmetrically arranged stable block of 4 ranges around cobbled courtyard. Squared rubble with some polished red sandstone detail to window margins and dovecot.

S ELEVATION: 3 stage advanced gabled centre, and single storey and attic gabled end bays linked by single storey ranges. All with depressed-arch cart entrances, eastern range converted to dwelling with windows and French doors inset into cart arches. Gabled bay to centre being pend entrance to courtyard, loft and dovecot above. Pointed-arch red sandstone panel to dovecot pierced with flight-holes. Range to right of pend, converted to domestic usage with tripartite glazed door

squaring off original cart-arch. End gables with oval sandstone tablet inscribed FAC ET SPERA 1817.

W range with unroofed horsemill to W formerly mill and barn.

Circa 1910 laundry to N part containing large brick kiln with cast-iron clothes dryers.

N and E ranges stabling and barn storage.

Large walled garden to W of house; coped rubble walls.
