Description

Walter Newall of Dumfries, architect. Built 1840. 2-storey
manse. Painted render and ashlar dressings. North, east and
south elevations almost identical (each 2 bays with
bipartites and slightly advanced and gabled left bays), 2 of
latter with canted ground floor window, north elevation has
doorway instead; recessed panelled door in architrave, with
consoles supporting pediment (blind additional narrow bay to
left). All windows lying-pane sashes; 1st floor cill band,
windows in right hand bays linked to eaves course. Cornice;
octagonal stacks, grouped above wall-head, or individually
over each shallow-pitched gable. Slate roof.
2 octagonal painted ashlar gatepiers with projecting,
facetted and pointed caps.
