Description

Later to late 19th century. Single storey and attic
semi-detached pair of 3-bay cottages. Square and
snecked, stugged pink sandstone with polished dressings
and chamfered arrises to openings.
S ELEVATION: each cottage comprised of gabled stone
porch at centre; flush panelled door with small-pan
fanlight; windows in flanking bays at ground and
breaking eaves in gabled dormerheads above.
N ELEVATION: piend-roofed single storey porch projecting
from rear of each cottage, with doorways in re-entrant
angles.
Blank end gables.
6-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows. Purple
slates. ashlar coped skews with moulded skewputts.
Coped end and mutual gable stacks. Decorative gutter
fixtures retained.

Statement of Interest

While the design of the cottages is neither unusual, nor

an early instance of its use, the group constitutes a

rare example of the type to retain the original form and

glazing.
