Description

Earlier to mid 19th century. 2-storey 3-bay farmhouse
with single storey wings, backing on to and enclosing
farm steading. Rubble, squared and coursed on SE
elevation; droved ashlar dressings.
SE ELEVATION: doorway at centre with 2-leaf doors and
fanlight, flanked by windows and with window to each
bay at 1st floor. Single storey, piend-roofed wings
flanking, each with window.
NW ELEVATION: stair window at centre; lean-to porch
added at ground to left, with 1st floor window and
oculus above; window to each floor to right. Doorway in
wing to right blocked as window and with small square
window flanking.
Variety of glazing patterns in sash and case windows;
plate glass glazing to main windows of 2-storey
elevation. Grey slates; piend roofs. Ashlar end stacks
with set-offs, abutted below by piend roofs of wings.

Statement of Interest

Formerly known as Midfield Mains. Unusually late

inclusion of farmhouse in close relation to ranges,

suggests that the present farmhouse may be a re-working

of an earlier building.
