Description

1827. Rectangular block with 2 simple draw-kilns each with barrell-vaulted access tunnel. Whinstone rubble with droved squared sandstone to tunnels and long and short quoins. Kilns now infilled. Overall frontage 50ft, height 27ft, vents 12ft wide, infill kilns approximately 14ft diameter.

Statement of Interest

Quarry to rear of kilns. A datestone of 1827 was identified by Skinner, no longer visible. A stone in the tunnel to the right is noted 8.5.86.
