Description

Circa mid 18th century. Single-span, round-headed arch former road bridge over Knapp Burn. Rubble construction, irregular rubble voussoirs, low rubble parapets. Weir built hard against upstream arch; low segmental-headed lade arch at NE approach.

Statement of Interest

This bridge probably carried the Dundee to Perth road before the establishment of the Dundee to Perth turnpike in 1780-90, the route approximately followed by the present A85. There is a similar bridge listed above at New Mill of Knapp.
