Description

Late 18th to early 19th century. 2-storey, 5-bay house (formerly

terraced pair of houses). Painted rubble. Painted raised margins. 1st floor lintels at eaves level.

E ELEVATION: door in bays to left and right of centre. Window to both floors in bays at centre, outer left and outer right.

N ELEVATION: large window to right at 1st floor.

S ELEVATION: blank.

W ELEVATION: lower addition, with later flat roof, to centre and right of centre. Window to left and flanking addition to left and right.

Sash and case windows to E, with 2-pane glazing at ground floor and 4- and 9-pane glazing at 1st floor. Coped skews. Rendered stacks, gablehead to N and S, ridge between bays at centre and right of centre. Grey slates.

ENCLOSING WALL: low painted rubble enclosing wall adjoined to left and right to E elevation.

On the OS Map of 1892-3, the building is shown as L-plan, with the jamb to the south-west marked as a "smithy".
