Description

1879, probably Samuel Barham. Pair 2-storey, 2-bay
semi-detached estate cottages, all rendered concrete.
Entrances in east and west gables, each under slated canopy.
Similar canopy runs continuously across paired centre
tripartites in south (front) elevation. Substantial paired
gablets with bipartites in centre of south elevation; similar
window in 1st floor east and west gables, under hoodmoulds;
multi-pane glazing. Single centre stack with battery of
flues; slate roofs project over deep bracketted eaves.
Single storey service buildings to rear with similar deeply
glazing slated roofs.

Statement of Interest

Built as gardener's and trapper's cottages. Old Ardtornish

House (demolished 1907) stood on rise to west of Ardtornish

Bay; cottages stand by shore. Semi-circular tidal fish trap

survives close to cottages.
