Description

Large mains steading comprising 2 distinct ranges.
West range; earlier-mid 19th century, long 2-storey, 8-bay
range with long elevations east and west. 6 high regular
basket arched cart bays in east elevation, with glazed loft
windows above; some small loft vents close to wallhead in
west elevation. Tall, tapering circular brick chimney
(possibly later insertion) rises from wallhead plinth at
south end of west elevation. Slate roof with sky-lights.
Long single storey addition at south gable.
East range; mid-later 19th century 2-storey, L-plan range
with boiler house and chimney in NE re-entrant angle. Tall,
circular brick chimney with flared top rises from square
rubble plinth. Loft doors in north and east gables, and
breaking wallhead into piended gable in east elevation. Slate
roofs.

Statement of Interest

Large modern range at south elevation of east range not

included in listing. Chimneys served boilers motivating (by

steam pressure) farm machinery.
