Description

Earlier to mid 19th century; modern rear wing. Single storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan cottage. Rubble with ashlar margins and dressings; chamfered bargeboards; advanced eaves. Bipartite windows with gothick-arched, glazing.

S (MAIN) ELEVATION: door at centre, bargeboard on bracketted timber; 2-leaf boarded door. Flanking windows, roof breaking eaves above.

Timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof, lead flashings. Low sandstone stacks with moulded projecting cornices.

Statement of Interest

The house is shown on the 1st edition map. The cottage is similar to the neighbouring Alderdale. It has similar glazing to South Cottage at Low Aldochlay.
