Early 19th century, 3-bay classically detailed farmhouse,
made L-plan by later 19th century wing to N. 2-storey. Rubble
sandstone, squared and coursed on S elevation with ashlar
dressings, raised quoins, eaves and base courses.
S ELEVATION: broad, pilastered doorpiece at centre with
tripartite door in segmental archway; panelled door with side
lights and fanlight. Recessed segmental panels flanking,
inset with tripartite windows with stone pilaster mullions,
blind tympana. 3, 1st floor windows.
N ELEVATION: stair window of original house evident at
centre, partly obscured by piend-roofed porch set in
re-entrant angle and by 2-storey extension to N at right,
with 2 ground floor, narrow windows.
W ELEVATION: 4-bay. 2 windows at each floor to original
house; more closely grouped windows to left extension, with
single ground floor window and 2 at 1st floor, that to outer
left inserted.
12-pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows with 2 of
plate glass. Wallhead stacks to gable ends of early 19th
century house, one in stone, heightened in brick, the other
brick. Slated piend roof with lead flashings. Some original
cans retained.
INTERIOR: winding stair with plain balustrade.
Similar in design to houses in Haddington and possibly by
James Burn. Steading to SW not included in current listing.
