Description

1826-7. Quadrangular plan steading in random red and grey
green rubble with droved cream ashlar dressings. Pantiles.
S RANGE: asymmetrical.
CARTSHED: 8-bay. 2 gabled advanced bays at S of E range with
low segmental archway at right and 2 loft openings above.
Recessed bays to right with 5 cart arches and openings as
above. Higher wider archway to outer right with sliding door
and smaller upper opening.
Recessed single storey stable to right with 3 doorways and 2
openings. Advanced gable to N of E range.
W RANGE: horsemill adjoining at centre with doorway and broad
hayloft opening.
HORSEMILL: octagonal; inserted doorway in SW side and
openings by W range; rubble filling between piers. Complex
timber roof construction.
Lower piend roofed building adjoining N end of W range,
possibly the former engine house.

Statement of Interest

Green field site. 1826-7 steading replacing earlier one to E.

Former cottages, much altered and farmhouse to E not included

in current listing.
