Description

Mid to late 18th century. Single storey row of cottages,
currently (1989) only 1 inhabited; sited on falling
ground to SE of Old School House and Hall. Pink
sandstone rubble with ashlar surrounds to openings,
chamfered arrises to doors.
W ELEVATION: 3-bay cottage to N with doorway at centre,
flanked by small window to outer left, larger window to
right; 2, 2-bay cottages adjoined, currently absorbed as
1 (Old Playground Cottage); door to left with later
window to right in centre cottage, and door blocked as
window in right cottage; lean-to outbuildings projecting
from outer right bay. Rubble terrace with stone steps
to centre and N cottages.
Rising ground to rear, low E elevations.
4-pane and small-pane glazing patterns to sash and case
windows. Ashlar skews; mutual and gable end stone
stacks, brick repair to S gable stack.
