Late 17th-early 18th century, rectangular cruck barn; low/walls
of harl pointed rubble; long 3-bay elevations to SE/NW.
Entrances in outer bays of NW elevation matched by similar in
SW, where that to west is enlarged and flanked by small slit
vent (left) and centre window (right). Later entrance slapped
in SW gable; under corrugated iron gablet; piended corrugated
iron roof.
Interior; 5 pairs cruck blades spring from base or wall,
linked at places by curved "yoke" collar ties; hip cruck
survives at NE gable end (that to SW removed to make room for
present entrance). Some spur ties survive (formerly linking
crucks with wall plate).
Light modern timber rafters support present corrugated iron
roof.
Unusual survival of finest cruck building in Scotland (see
G Hay).
Precise dating difficult. Pro-originally had turf walls and
served as dwelling possibly becoming a barn after present
"Old Corrimony" built in 1740.
