Description

Dated 1838 at Kiln but incorporating earlier masonry, burned
1942 additions and rebuilding 1942-3 2-storey rubble-built
L-plan with Kiln (brick) in angle, horse vane at vent. 2
external start-and-awe (double runged iron frames) 14' Wheels,
one for barley and one for meal fed by bi-furcated lade.
Complete and in use, later additions.

Statement of Interest

Upper Kennerty Mill was a barony mill and has always been a

grain mill. The Lower Mill was a snuff mill employing one man

only and turned out 3 cwt of snuff a week.
