Description

Main part Z-plan, George Bell master mason c. 1570-5.
Approximately square 4-storey central part with 6-storey
circular battlemented tower and 4-storey and attic
turreted square tower. N.W. wing 2-storey with dormer heads
probably 17th century. E. wing 2/3-storey probably c. 1733;
small bathroom addition (? 1796). Harled, small raised
terrace in courtyard. Interior work; main part:- 1st floor
plain with original ceiling and good early 19th century c.i.
stove by Adam Anderson; original late 18th century bathroom
arrangements in addition. Good original panelled rooms
with original plasterwork 2nd and 3rd floors. E. wing:-
good panelling of c. 1733 with late 18th century additions.
Elegant dining room at ground floor probably c. 1796,
Pompeian red with windows in semi-elliptically arched
recesses. Considerably repaired in 1840.
