Description

18th century, possibly incorporating earlier fabric, heavily restored and converted to electricity sub-station. Small 2-storey former house with gable to street. Harl with stone margins and quoins.

NE (BURN'S WYND) ELEVATION: broad timber door to centre at ground with window in bay to left and 3 windows to 1st floor.

NW (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: projecting gabled elevation with windows to left of centre at each floor, and small window to right at ground; return to right with bipartite window to 1st floor.

All windows blinded. Courtrai tiles. Coped harled stacks and ashlar-coped skews.

Statement of Interest

Now an electricity sub-station. The building received a Saltire award for restoration. Burns Wynd derives it name from Dr Burns, bone setter and teacher, who lived here in 1850.
