Charles MacBride of Edinburgh, sculptor, 1897 (signed and
dated). Monument, bronze bust of Joseph Thomson on battered
square red ashlar pedestal with bronze plaque, inscription
panel and lion masks; raised on stepped plinth.

Statement of Interest

Inscribed "...Joseph Thomson, African explorer. Fellow and

gold medallist of the Royal Geographical Society....."

Formerly enclosed by iron railings (shown on photo in NMRS).
