Description

Probably 1802, substantial roughly square walled garden with
inner walled garden. Harl pointed rubble walls, partially
coped with tooled rubble cope. Tetrastyle portico
reconstructed against E wall (facing W), reusing former
mansion house entrance portico of 1802, taken down during
1912 reconstruction and re-erected on present site. Entrance
at W side of garden, carriage and pedestrian gateways flanked
by simple square tooled rubble piers with flat caps.

Statement of Interest

Garden no longer cultivated. Burgie Castle and Dovecot (SM5496) stand in NW corner. The scheduled monument does not include the garden wall.
