Description

Mid 18th century; early 19th century additions at rear.
2-storey and attic, 3-bay house. Coursers at N elevation,
harled, and harled brick at rear, slate roof. Margined
windows at N, 6-pane top-hopper at ground floor, 12-pane sash
and case at 1st; coped dividing wall at W, coped ashlar stack.
N ELEVATION: off-centre door with 6-pane glazing. 2 windows
flanking, 2 windows at 1st floor symmetrically arranged.
S ELEVATION: additions consisting of brick lean-to, single
storey piended-roof section with windows and pyramidal-
roofed section with canted window; door at main house,
dormer and modern rooflight at attic, coped skew at E.
INTERIOR: some early 19th century chimneypieces; possible
18th century chimneypiece at ground floor with basket
grate, swey, railed mantlepiece and various initials inscribed
on fireback. Large attic with external rear entrance.

Statement of Interest

The attic may have been used for weaving. The initials on

the fireback refer to members of the Scott family who

owned Roselea East and West (see notes to Roselea (East).

Up-graded Category C(S) to B February, 1990.
