Description

Rose Cottage is a former pair of single-storey, three-bay, rubble-built cottages, which date from the early 19th century and were later converted into a single property. The building is set into the slope of the ground and has a pitched slate roof with chimneystacks, two end stacks and one centred along the roof ridge. There is a timber entrance porch attached to the former left-hand cottage, with a pitched corrugated metal roof and two-leaf doors.

The windows are predominantly a four-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case frames. There is one dormer window and two replacement roof lights.

Statement of Interest

The cottages were originally a row of four single-storey cottages. The western end of the row was replaced by a detached single-storey house with an attic, in the late-20th century.

Statutory address, and listed building record revised in 2021. Previously listed as "Kirkton Cottages Opposite Old School (Now 2 Cottages)".
